Polymeric concentrated electrolyte enables simultaneous stabilization of electrode/electrolyte interphases for quasi‐solid‐state lithium metal batteries

Abstract: To achieve next-generation lithium metal batteries (LMBs) with desirable specific energy and reliability, the electrolyte shown simultaneously high reductive stability toward lithium metal anode and oxidative stability toward highvoltage cathode is of great importance. Here, we report for the first time that high-concentration lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI) initiates ringopening polymerization of 1,3-dioxolane in presence of ethylene carbonate and ethylmethyl carbonate to produce in-situ a novel poly… Show more

“…The solution-casting method is typically applied to synthesize thin polymer membranes as solvent-free polymer electrolytes. There is a large volume of published studies describing the effect of various polymer host matrixes, including polyethylene oxide (PEO), poly methyl methacrylate, polyvinyl chloride, and many more, on the electrochemical behavior of the SPEs . Among various investigated polymers, PEO has been identified to meet all the requirements as the polymer host matrix for LIBs.…”

“…[108,109] The elaborately tailored polymer electrolyte with Li metal can produce a passivation layer that further evolves into a tunable artificial SEI. [110,111] A polymer electrolyte, polyvinylidene fluoride-based composite polymer electrolytes ((PVDF-CPEs), was polymerized at the interface by a UV curing process, and a high concentrated electrolytes (HCEs) layer was generated. [59] Figure 5h depicts the formation process of the UV-polymerized HCE layer.…”
