Polyarylacetylene blends with improved processability and high thermal stability

Abstract: Novel binary blends of polyarylacetylene (PAA resin) with propargyl-novoalc resin (PN resin) was prepared. The miscibility, processing capability, and thermal properties of the blends were investigated. The evaluation of the blends as matrice for thermostructural composites was also studied. The blends were highly miscible. In comparison to PAA resin, the blends exhibited remarkably improved processability suitable to various process techniques (especially resin transfer molding, RTM). By dynamic mechanical an… Show more

“…The peak at 1 443 cm À1 is associated with the aromatic ring distortion. [45] The band observed at 839 cm À1 is attributed to the CÀH bend of aromatic rings [47] and the band at 819 cm À1 corresponds to the aromatic ring vibrations as well. The CÀH bending mode of the oxirane ring is expected to be found at 920 and 864 cm À1 .…”

“…The nitrenes are highly reactive intermediates that can be generated from azide groups through either thermolysis or irradiation, which has been tried for the covalent functionalization of CNTs, [32][33][34][35][36] fullerenes, 37-39 carbon nanoonions, 40 exfoliated graphite 41 and epitaxial graphene 42 via the [2 þ 1] cycloaddition of nitrenes to the π-electron system. In this paper, we utilize a series of compounds containing azide groups to introduce various functional groups or polymeric chains onto graphene nanosheets via the nitrene cycloaddition.…”

“…The main processes for the synthesis of CNTs are chemical vapor deposition (CVD), gas phase catalytic growth, electrolytic synthesis, laser ablation and electric arc discharge [7]. However, due to phase separation of the polymer matrix and CNTs, large surface areas and strong van der Waals interactions between CNTs, the development of polymer/CNTs nanocomposites have been hindered largely by the lack of homogenous dispersions of CNTs [8][9][10]. To deal with this unpleasant phenomenon, many methods of CNTs treatment have been reported.…”
