Polyacrylonitrile and Carbon Nanofibers with Controllable Nanoporous Structures by Electrospinning

Abstract: In this work, polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and carbon nanofibers with controllable nanoporous structures were successfully prepared via electrospinning technique. For the preparation of porous PAN nanofibers, two kinds of polymers of PAN and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) were used as electrospun precursor materials, and then the bicomponent nanofibers of PAN and PVP were extracted with water to remove the PVP in the composite polymer nanofibers. By altering the ratio of PAN/PVP in the precursor, the pore size and pore… Show more

“…Electrospun nanofibers were chosen as hard templates because they have many advantages in photocatalytic process. The advantages are as follows: (1) their large surface-to-volume ratio enables fast surface photocatalytic reactions and quick mass transfer of active species; (2) the large roughness of their surfaces makes better use of light through multiple reflections; and (3) the large length to diameter ratio also gives favorable sedimentation and recycling characteristic in the photocatalytic applications [19][20][21]. Photocatalytic results show that p-BiOCl/n-TiO 2 HHs exhibit favorable UV-light photocatalytic activity for degradation of Rhodamine B (RB) and reduction of Cr (VI).…”

“…Surfactants play a key role in the synthesis of porous materials because they can act as sacrificial templates [87,88]. In the process of synthesizing MOFs, surfactants can be used as a sacrificial template to obtain micropores and mesopores structure.…”
