Sodium chloride in a concentration range of 0.01 to 5 M in PPG-AuNPs resulted in a decrease in the intensity of SPR band, which may be attributed to aggregation of the metal ions in the presence of free chloride (Cl −1 ) ions, figure 2b [22]. The absorption band is not affected to a large extent while using NaCl concentration below 0.5 M.
