“…The application and significance of backpressure in AEMFCs has been studied by several researchers. [ 12,32,33 ] In this case, the result of adding backpressure to the cathode side was a clear increase in performance. Not only was the high current density performance increased (Figure 2b), but the kinetics were also slightly enhanced as well.…”

“…The in-plane hydroxide conductivity of the membrane samples was measured by four probe electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) using a PAR 2273 potentiostat/galvanostat (Princeton Applied Research) for frequencies from 1 Hz to 2 MHz. [32,33,36] Finally, the storage modulus of the GT64-15 AEM was measured by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) using a TA Instruments Q800 under a 1 Hz single-frequency strain mode in air at 30 °C. A fully hydrated, rectangular sample was loaded into the DMA with tension clamps after removing surface water.…”

“…The actual anode loading was 0.672 mgPt/Ru cm −2 and for cathode was 0.584 mgPt cm −2 , with no backpressure. Reproduced with permission from Ref [72] ,. Copyright (2020) Royal Society of Chemistry.…”

“…[69][70][71] Very recently, Mandal et al synthesized polynorbornene homopolymer, random copolymer, and block copolymer AEMs and measured their properties and performances. [72] The authors pointed out that the water management to prevent anode flooding and cathode dry out is more critical than the formation of phase segregated morphology in AEMs. To prove this, the authors systematically investigated random copolymer and block copolymer AEMs.…”

“…[4] Recently, the problems with low ionic conductivity and poor chemical stability of AEMs are systematically addressed. [6][7][8][9][10][11] However, the slow reaction kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in AAEMWE reduces the rate and amount of H 2 production. [3,4] A schematic illustration of AAEMWE cell operation is provided below ( Figure 1A).…”
