Poly (Ethylene Oxide)-Based Block Copolymer Electrolytes Formed via Ligand-Free Iron-Mediated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

Abstract: The Br-terminated poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO-Br) is used as a green and efficient macroinitiator in bulk Fe-catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) without the addition of any organic ligands. The polymerization rate is able to be mediated by PEO-Br with various molecular weights, and the decrease in redox potential of FeBr2 in cyclic voltammetry (CV) curves indicates that an increased coordination effect is deteriorated with the depressing reaction activity in the longer ethylene oxide (EO) chai… Show more

“…The ionic conductivities ( σ ) are used to measure the mobility of ions, which helps to increase the photovoltaic performance of fabricated DSSC prepared with PGEs 64,65 . The conductivity of PGEs was calculated from bulk resistance ( R b ) values which are determined from the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurement and the Equation (1): σgoodbreak=lRb.A In Equation (1), σ is the ionic conductivity, l is the distance between two electrodes, R b is the bulk resistance in Ω (measured from the Nyquist diagram), and A is the electrode active area.…”

“…poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) is a highly hydrophilic material with excellent biocompatibility and is usually used as hydrophilic monomer in the design of amphiphilic block copolymers [10][11][12]. It is suitable for a variety of polymerization methods, such as RAFT polymerization [13][14][15], atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) [16][17][18], etc. During the self-assembly of PEGMA based amphiphilic block copolymer, the PEG chains of the micelle hydrophilic shell are fully stretched in water to prevent entanglement and aggregation between the chains, and the stability of micelles is greatly increased.…”
