“…This article examines the Islamic Republic of Iran, born out of the 1978–1979 revolution that led to the dismantling of political, institutional, and social structures of the Pahlavi regime (1925–1979). The revolution fundamentally sought to reshape the Pahlavi's elitist (Zonis, 1971) and centralized state bureaucracy to the benefit of lower‐middle classes of all provinces (Ehsani, 2009).
