“…After extraction of the completely reduced (electrolysis at pH 10) dye solution with chloroform the UV-vis spectra were compared with the literature [21,27]. A small quantity of phenylenediamine intermediate was detected in the chloroform phase in aliquots preelectrolyzed in neutral and alkaline solution using its typical UV spectrum with an adsorption maxima at l ¼ 270 nm [24] as identification. On the other hand, sulfanilic acid was identified in the aqueous phase in all electrolyzed solutions in acidic, neutral or alkaline solution by a high absorption peak verified in the spectrum at 238 nm [21,27].…”
