“…The dependence of hyperon polarization on the production target material was measured [2,27] for and ÿ hyperons produced by 400 GeV/c protons at 0:6 < p t < 1:9 GeV=c. In that study the production polarization of hyperons was measured for Be and Cu Pb targets.…”

“…The hyperon programs at Fermilab have produced data [1][2][3][4] on hyperon polarization for a variety of hyperons produced at differing values of Feynman x (x F ) and transverse momentum (p t ). These measurements have provided valuable insights into the spin structure of baryon production in high-energy proton collisions and the dependence of baryon polarization on target material.…”

“…The production and polarization of hyperons and antihyperons have historically been measured as a function of hyperon momentum (p), production angle (θ), beam energy (p beam ) and target material [3,4]. Results are typically reported as a function of the combined variables of transverse momentum, p t =p sinθ, and longitudinal momentum fraction, also called Feynman x, x F =p/p beam .…”

“…Experiments have shown a wide variety of polarization behavior with respect to p t and x F [2,[4][5][6][7][8]. Reference [8] reported an equal polarization between Λ at 800 GeV/c with 4.8 mrad targeting and at 400 GeV/c with 9.6 mrad targeting.…”

“…Although in the past a lot of experimental data and theoretical analyses have provided information about the Collins functions for pion and kaon mesons, knowledge about the Collins function of the Λ hyperon is much more limited. Meanwhile there is increasing interest in the novel fragmentation mechanism of the Λ hyperon, as it is partly responsible to the observed spin polarization or spin transfer of the spin-1=2 Λ hyperon produced in the high-energy inclusive process [28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36]. A T-odd spin-dependent TMD fragmentation D ⊥ 1T ðz; k 2 T Þ, which describes the number density of a transversely polarized Λ hyperon fragmented from an unpolarized quark, is found to play an important role in this aspect and has been studied intensively [1,[37][38][39][40][41][42].…”
