Polarization insensitive dual band metamaterial with absorptance for 5G sub-6 GHz applications

Abstract: A couple ring enclosed circular geometric resonator (CRECGR) based dual-band polarization insensitive metamaterial (MM) with high effective medium ratio (EMR), and excellent absorptance is proposed in this study, which can be utilized as a sensor and absorber in the 5G sub-6 GHz frequency range. A circular geometry-based unique patch has been introduced in the proposed unit cell to achieve high polarization insensitive properties with excellent absorption for the 5G sub-6 GHz spectrum. The distinctive feature … Show more

“…The metamaterial is a promising technique to improve the MIMO antenna’s performance, particularly in terms of its gain and isolation between the MIMO elements [ 12 , 17 , 23 , 24 ]. It is an artificially engineered, unique material that can modulate electromagnetic (EM) waves, enhancing the antenna performance [ 27 , 28 ]. In [ 9 , 23 ], the authors presented a low-profile two-element MIMO antenna incorporating the metasurface (MS) or parasitic components around the antenna radiators on a single substrate.…”

“…The narrow-band MAM structure was first introduced by Landy et al in 2008 12 , where two different resonators are proposed for electric and magnetic resonance. After the proposed design, other narrow designs like Salisbury screen 13 , Jauman screen 14 , polarisation insensitive dual band absorber 15 , and Dallenbach screen 16 are proposed. The split maze is proposed to get resonance at different frequencies in X (8-12 GHz) and Ku (12-18 GHz) bands in 17 .…”
