Polarization independence of extraordinary transmission trough 1D metallic gratings

Abstract: Extraordinary optical transmission of 1D metallic gratings is studied. Experimental samples are fabricated by means of Electron Beam Lithography. The optical characterization is focused on far field transmission properties and in particular on polarization dependence of the incident light. A peculiar symmetry in transmission spectra at different polarization angles is shown; this symmetry is studied both experimentally, and numerically with FEM method. A comparison between numerical and experimental data is pr… Show more

“…polarization independence. [15][16][17] The effect has also been connected with the description of the cavity plasmons. 18,19 For example, such sub-wavelength grooves (or groove nanocavities) have been recently considered for light trapping, resulting in complete light absorption and strong field enhancement, with the control over the resonance wavelength.…”

“…The resist was soft baked at 180°C on a hot plate for 10 min. Then we performed an electron beam lithography (EBL) [27] step using a JEOL EB6300FS EBL system operating at 100 keV, with 2 nA current, up to a dose of 800 μC∕cm 2 during the exposure. The exposed pattern was corrected to prevent proximity effects by using Layout BEAMER software from GenISys GmbH.…”

“…This means that the EOT only can be achieved for TM wave. However, in recent years, the possibility of EOT for TE wave was also achieved not only by theories and numerical calculations [13][14][15][16][17] but also by experiments [17,18]. And some researchers even achieved the realization of the EOT through one configuration both for TM wave and TE wave at a same wavelength [19][20][21].…”
