Abstract. The study of spin observables is an important and active issue in low energy nuclear physics. In this contribution we report our recent calculation on the γd → → n p reaction at low photon energies. Our main goal is to calculate the neutron spin polarization P y , but we also calculate the total cross section as well as the differential cross section. Although the results for the total and differential cross sections are found to agree reasonably well with the data, the results for P y show significant discrepancy with the experiment. We comment on this discrepancy.

Abstract. An analysis of the photofission reactions in the quasi-deuteron energy range of photonuclear absorption (~30-140 MeV) has been performed for 2~ and 238U nuclei. Experimental cross section data available in the literature have been compared with calculated values obtained from a model in which the incoming photon is assumed to be absorbed by a neutron-proton pair (Levinger's quasi-deuteron photoabsorption), followed by a mechanism of evaporation-fission competition for the excited residual nuclei. The model has been shown to reproduce the main experimental features of 2~ and ~38U photofission cross section, although unexplained differences still remain in the case of 238U-fission by 30-50 MeV incident photons. 25.85.Jg PACS:

The reaction d( γ, np) has been studied using the tagged and polarised LADON gamma ray beam at an energy 30 − 50 M eV to investigate the existence of narrow dibaryonic resonances recently suggested from the experimental measurements in a different laboratory. The beam was obtained by Compton back-scattering of laser light on the electrons of the storage ring ADONE. Photo-neutron yields were measured at five neutron angle ϑ c.m.
