Poe, Fashion, and Godey's Lady's Book

Abstract: In my article I restore Poe's “Cask of Amontillado,” “Literati of New York City,” and “Thousand-and-Second Tale of Scheherazade” to their original publication in Godey's Lady's Book. My main thesis is that these pieces, apparently standing out of the usual literary matter published in Godey's, were at the same time attuned to the carnivalesque and interactive spirit of the magazine.
