Species of Plesiophysa are considered nearly indistinguishable from one another based on shell characters alone (paRaenSe 2002a(paRaenSe , b, 2003. However, the present shells are easily diagnosable from them, displaying a much more raised spired while in its congeners the spire is depressed into the later whorls.…”

“…Recentemente, o mesmo autor redescreveu a espécie P. ornata, baseado tanto no material topotípico quanto no de outras 14 localidades brasileiras (PARAENSE 2002a), detalhando a conquiliologia e a anatomia da espécie, bem como alguns aspectos de sua taxonomia. Uma segunda espécie, Plesiophysa dolichomastix Paraense, 2002, foi descrita com base em material coletado no Estado de Goiás, no município de Santa Rosa de Goiás (15º01'S, 47º13'W), e depositada na Coleção Malacológica do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (CMIOC números 1787 e 2041) (PARAENSE 2002b).…”
