Playout management of interactive video — an adaptive approach

Abstract: This paper examines problems associated with display of live continuous media. Under the assumption that the network cannot guarantee the required bounds on delay and jitter and the operating system scheduling is non-realtime, there is a need to accommodate the delay and jitter in the end systems in order to maintain a desirable Quality of Service (QoS).
