PLAY: Semantics-Based Event Marketplace

Abstract: Abstract. In this paper we present PLAY Platform, a Web-oriented distributed semantic middleware that serves as an Event Marketplace: the place where heterogeneous events can be integrated and combined. The purpose of the platform is to derive useful information from diverse real-time sources such as collaborative processes. The platform provides technology where instant results are needed or where heterogeneous data must be integrated on the fly or where the data arrive fast enough to require the stream proce… Show more

“…traffic accident) and trigger actions to recover from such situations. PLAY [10] provides an event-driven middleware that is able to process complex event detection in large highly distributed and heterogeneous systems. PLAY architecture facilitates event-driven adaptive process management, which can automatically adapt after sensing the contextual information.…”

“…To semantically annotate data streams, CityPulse uses lightweight information models that are developed on top of the well-known information models, such as SSN Ontology, PROV-O, 10 and OWL-S. 11 Figure 3 shows an overview of the CityPulse information models, which consists of 4 main modules, namely Stream Annotation Ontology (SAO), 12 Quality Ontology, 13 User Profiles, and Complex Event information. 14 SAO is used to express the temporal features (e.g.…”
