PurposeAlthough the benefits that individuals obtain from trait mindfulness and functional flexibility have been well documented in the research literature, one crucial gap is the lack of evidence clarifying whether trait mindfulness and functional flexibility might benefit all age groups. Using the moderating effect of age among salespeople, this research analyzes the effects of trait mindfulness and functional flexibility regarding sales performance based on the conservation of resource theory.Design/methodology/approachSurvey data were collected from 227 salespeople across 120 companies located in Bangkok, Thailand. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling.FindingsThe analysis shows that the positive effect of trait mindfulness on sales performance is more substantial for older salespeople than their younger counterparts. Although the analysis shows that functional flexibility is positively associated with sales performance, the positive relationship is only supported for younger salespeople. For older salespeople, available flexibility does not positively affect sales performance.Practical implicationsBased on the findings, developing trait mindfulness and functional flexibility in salespeople could be a valuable area of focus for sales organizations' human capital development policies. Although the intervention to develop trait mindfulness could be provided to all salespeople, the functional flexibility enhancement component should be delivered specifically to younger salespeople who may experience more significant gains from the training.Originality/valueThe results address the gap in the existing research that lacked evidence as to whether trait mindfulness and functional flexibility similarly affect the work performance of older and younger people. In particular, this study offers new insight into how age differences influence the benefit of trait mindfulness and functional flexibility across different age groups of individuals.

Introduction In the past decade, China has witnessed a significant surge in the popularity of food delivery apps, with its industry now thrice the size of the U.S, employing approximately 7 million drivers navigating urban landscapes on electric bikes and scooters. Predominantly, the market is governed by two main players: Meituan Dianping (backed by Tencent) and Ele.me (supported by Alibaba). Notably, stress and absenteeism stand out as significant challenges in this service sector, with implications for occupational health that translate into considerable costs for both healthcare systems and companies. Existing research has largely overlooked how job demands affect the mental health of food delivery workers in China, and how resilience plays a role in this process. The present study addresses this gap by examining the direct impact of Workload Volume and Pace on the mental health of these workers, and by exploring how personal resilience can mediate this relationship. Furthermore, it delves into the mediating role of Resilience, a personal strength, in this relationship. Methods Using a correlational design with 206 participants, multiple regression analysis suggested a notable variance in Mental Health Decline. Results Subsequent bootstrapping-mediated analysis confirmed resilience’s mediating role, highlighting its importance in managing stress from workload. Discussion The results underscore the critical role of personal strengths in managing work-related stress, which can significantly impact both job performance and mental well-being.

Cogeneration and waste heat recovery and utilization are important means to improve energy utilization, which opens up a broad application prospect for steam turbines. Digital electro-hydraulic control system is responsible for the speed and load control of the unit, and its control performance directly affects the safety and economy of the unit. The purpose of this paper is to study the heat transfer coefficient of high-power steam turbine impeller rim with deep neural network. In this paper, the surface emission coefficient of high-power turbine rotor blades is measured by power method. Then, the scraping characteristics of the rotor blade and ceramic coating of the high-power turbine box were experimentally studied, focusing on the effects of different scraping depth, scraping rate and disc linear speed on the scraping temperature and scraping force. According to the influence of process and nonlinearity on system stability, a neural network PID controller is designed to replace the traditional PID controller, to reduce the influence of nonlinearity on the control system, and to realize the adaptive adjustment of controller parameters. In this paper, three algorithms are selected to calculate the heat transfer coefficient of turbine wheel rim under different working conditions. The influence of grid number on the average tip temperature of steam turbine is studied and analyzed. The experiment shows that the average blade tip temperature of the impeller tends to be stable after the grid number is more than 4.47 million.
