Platform construction and extraction mechanism study of magnetic mixed hemimicelles solid-phase extraction

Abstract: Simple, accurate and high-throughput pretreatment method would facilitate large-scale studies of trace analysis in complex samples. Magnetic mixed hemimicelles solid-phase extraction has the power to become a key pretreatment method in biological, environmental and clinical research. However, lacking of experimental predictability and unsharpness of extraction mechanism limit the development of this promising method. Herein, this work tries to establish theoretical-based experimental designs for extraction of … Show more

“…Maximum magnetization intensities of the Fe 3 O 4 NPs and Fe 3 O 4 @PNVCL/AP NPs, based on VSM magnetization curves (Figure c), were 59.5 and 40.7 emu g −1 , respectively. This amount illustrates the suitably high magnetic power of the modified NPs, which makes them a proper choice for MSPE, so dispersed Fe 3 O 4 @PNVCL/AP NPs in solution can be extracted by an external magnet (Wang et al, ; Xiao et al, ). A clear decline in magnetic saturation value of the Fe 3 O 4 @PNVCL/AP NPs was recorded and this could be mostly because of the thick nonmagnetic polymer layer coating the Fe 3 O 4 NPs.…”

“…Until now, research on the modification of magnetic particles for the enhanced extraction of polyphenols was performed by adsorbing ionic liquid or ionic surfactants on the surface of metal oxides [ 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 ]. The ionic liquid or surfactant’s hydrocarbon chains provide hydrophobic or π-π stacking interactions for hydrophobic analytes, while the polar groups adsorb ionic analytes via electrostatic interaction or a hydrogen-bonding interaction.…”
