PLASTIC: Providing lightweight & adaptable service technology for pervasive information & communication

Abstract: The PLASTIC project adopts and revisits serviceoriented computing for Beyond 3 rd Generation (B3G) networks, in particular aiming at assisting the development of services targeted at mobile devices. Specifically, PLASTIC introduces the PLASTIC platform to enable robust distributed lightweight services in B3G networking environments through: • A development environment for the thorough development of SLA-and resource-aware services, which may be deployed on the various networked nodes, including handheld device… Show more

“…These adaptation actions will ultimately achieve better cooperation between all participated software units. Since this sustainable awareness is made relying on understanding other associated entities' behaviors, the composition theory and control algorithm need to be properly constructed among all available entities within the system coordination model [15]. (iv) Goalawareness intends to let software systems to adjust based on reasoned goals of the stakeholders.…”

“…Some approaches share our emphasis on verification; e.g., [9,61,1]. Our approach differs because we emphasize continuous verification.…”

“…Two research communities became active in recent years to focus on these two areas ( [52,11]). The reader may refer to the conference series on run-time verification 9 , which originated in 2001 and the workshop series on models at run [66] is also relevant in our case. The work we presented in this paper follows from very similar motivations but has a rather different focus.…”

“…Frameworks like CARISMA [7], CHISEL [8], MUSIC [9] and PLASTIC [10] have a similar approach and try to adapt the service request based on variable context information and predefined policies. MUSIC does the adaptation process dynamically; however, it is not done based on the changes of user's context information at runtime.…”
