Abstract:Amorphous polyethylene terephthalate was oriented via rolling on a laboratory mill under room conditions. The influence of rolling on the polymer structure was investigated. The plastic deformation of the polymer was inhomogeneous at the initial stages of rolling. The deformation was localized in a system of almost perpendicular shear bands forming a zigzag. In polarized light, the zigzag area of plastic flow looked like a regular system of parallel optical bands and possessing approximately identical thicknes… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
