Plasma Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Levels in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease on Dialysis

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has become a public health problem in many countries. Worldwide, more than 500 million people are suffering from CKD, of which the majority (80%) come from developing countries [1]. In Vietnam, it is estimated that about 10,000 patients receive CKD. Patients with CKD on long-term dialysis often experience many complications related to anemia, bone dystrophy, cardiovascular disease, and malnutrition.The 20-carbon unsaturated fatty acids are essential fatty acids that the body cannot synthesize on its own, a deficiency will lead to imbalances, autoimmune disorders, inflammatory conditions.
