“…The study reported on the adaptative nature of the bacterial strains and gave small variability in the colonies and individual cells were hardly noticeable, furthermore, these changes were associated with the changes in the climatic conditions. In addition, García-Bonillo et al ., [27] and Tsai et al ., [28] found bacterial morphological similarities and related it to the increased immobilization of bacterial colony film upon the chain in conditions of growth.…”

“…pp-PFM Thin Film Deposition: The plasma polymerization of PFM was carried out as described in the previous bibliography of our group. [49,35] Substrates were placed on an aluminum plate in the center of the reactor. Before the introduction of the substrate, the chamber was cleaned under O 2 /Ar (1:1) plasma for 1 h at a power of 150 W. The continuous radio frequency power was fixed at 15 W, and pulsed plasma polymerization duty cycle (DC) of 10/20 [DC = T on /(T on + T off )] was carried out for 3 min.…”

“…This system has been widely studied in our group as silver reservoirs to provide bacteriophobic/antibacterial properties to elastomeric materials. [35,36] However, under specific conditions of Tollens' reaction, silver nucleation produces a homogeneous surface of silver microplates that can be easily separated under stress, revealing a polymer-silver interface directly attached to the substrate that allows the electrical conductivity under high strain levels (near 100% strain). These structural changes produce variations in conductivity that, with the appropriate design, allow it to work as a highly sensitive strain sensor, reaching GF values up to 900 000.…”

“…This procedure has been previously reported by our group as a straightforward manner to immobilize biomolecules on surfaces for biomedical applications. 30,32,46 pp-PFM polymers can immobilize amine-containing biomolecules, thanks to the high electrophilic character of the perfluorinated ester function that assists a rapid amide formation (see Figure S31, from SI).…”

“…The procedure of plasma polymerizations for those surface modifications was carried out as described in previous papers by our group. 31,32 Immobilization of Reducing Saccharides. Once the pp-PFM film was grafted over the surfaces, the samples were incubated in the presence of glucosamine 1 M at pH = 8 to perform the immobilization of this reducing sugar on pp-PFM for functionalizing surfaces (Figure S31).…”
