Plasma corticosteroid levels in anaphylactic shock of guinea pigs

Abstract: Summary. Plasma l l-hydroxycorticosteroid levels were measured fluorometrically during anaphylaetic shock of guinea pig s.Whereas in the acute anaphylaetic reaction elicited by i.v. injection of antigen, no increase was observed, a highly significant rise of plasma eorticosteroids was found in the so-called protracted shock.Pretreatment with the a-receptor blocking agent, phentolamine, reduced the plasma eorticosteroid levels in the protracted shock significantly.
