As Post Doctoral Fellow, she researched development and validation of simulation models to predict long term consequence of different tillage and residue management strategies. Primarily, her research pertains to modeling tillage with intervention of mulching and nutrient management with emphasis on soil physical health under dryland agriculture. She has also developed a Tilth Index Model, based on easily measurable soil physical properties to predict changes in soil productivity, and identify the suitable tillage type needed to achieve an optimal crop production. Her research entails nutrient management and moisture conservation in dryland agriculture, evaluation and modeling of soil physical properties for optimizing tillage agriculture production system, and water management. Her teaching involves advances in soil physics, and her research accomplishments have been published in reputed international journals having an impact factor of more than 2.Dr. Vikas Abrol, a young soil scientist in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu, received his PhD degree from same institute. He holds a PG Diploma in Agriculture Marketing from University of Pondicherry and a PG Diploma in Rural Development, IGNOU, New Delhi. He was awarded in his research fellowship for conducting advance research in soil and water conservation, with specialization in the use of synthetic polymers (PAM) for erosion control and water management at the World Illustrious Institute of Soil, Water and Environmental Sciences in the Agriculture Research Organization, Volcani Center, Israel. He started his professional career as Assistant Professor at Dryland Research Substation, Dhiansar, and his research interests entail tillage and nutrient management in dryland agriculture, soil erodibility under different land use systems, irrigation with effluent waters, soil and water pollution, surface runoff, and soil erosion. He has published research accomplishments in journals of international repute with high impact factor. He also authored book chapters, a soil physical manual, a book on dryland agriculture and popular articles in reputable magazines. Dr Abrol presented papers in national and international conferences, and he is presently a member of International Biochar Initiative, Friends of Israel Biochar Researchers Network, and Biochar India group.
