Plant MetGenMAP: An Integrative Analysis System for Plant Systems Biology

Abstract: The information and resources generated from diverse "omics" technologies provide opportunities for producing novel biological knowledge. It is essential to integrate various kinds of biological information and large-scale omics data sets through systematic analysis in order to describe and understand complex biological phenomena. For this purpose, we have developed a Web-based system, Plant MetGenMAP, which can comprehensively integrate and analyze large-scale gene expression and metabolite profile data sets … Show more

“…To identify differentially regulated metabolic pathways in AP2i-1-8 plants, we analyzed our microarray data using the Plant MetGenMAP database (Joung et al, 2009). Among the pathways identified, we found an overrepresentation of primary metabolic processes (see Supplemental Table 1 online).…”

“…These include genes encoding for proteases, pectinases, expansins, and extensins and a high number of genes encoding for enzymes involved in primary or secondary metabolism. In order to identify changed metabolic pathways, we loaded the microarray data into the Plant MetGenMAP database (Joung et al, 2009). Several metabolic pathways that can be linked to ripening were revealed to be regulated by FUL1/2, including Glu degradation, carotenoid biosynthesis, and suberin biosynthesis.…”

“…To elucidate the biological processes that are involved in each gene expression cluster, overrepresentation analysis was performed using MetGenMAP (Joung et al, 2009). Pathways that are enriched among the overexpressed transcripts include many that are associated with plant defense and stress responses (Fig.…”
