Plant Development of Early-Maturing Spring Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under Inoculation with Bacillus sp. V2026

Abstract: The effect of a plant growth-promoting bacterium (PGPB) Bacillus sp. V2026, a producer of indolyl-3-acetic acid (IAA) and gibberellic acid (GA), on the ontogenesis and productivity of four genotypes of early-maturing spring wheat was studied under controlled conditions. The inoculation of wheat plants with Bacillus sp. V2026 increased the levels of endogenous IAA and GA in wheat of all genotypes and the level of trans-Zeatin in Sonora 64 and Leningradskaya rannyaya cvs but decreased it in AFI177 and AFI91 ultr… Show more

“…Halophytic plants are the best model for the isolation of bacterial endophytes helping with the elimination of excess salt concentrations [ 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 ]. Many bacteria of the genus Bacillus are able to stimulate plant growth and provide protection under biotic and abiotic stresses [ 48 , 49 , 50 , 51 , 52 ].…”

“…Therefore, the application of PGPB has recently been expanded to include remediation of contaminated soils in combination with plant hyperaccumulators, that is, plants capable of accumulating extremely large amounts of heavy metals in their aboveground parts, without suffering from phytotoxic effects. Plant stimulation by PGPB has been observed by many authors [ 11 , 101 , 104 , 105 , 106 , 107 ]. PGPB may enhance plant growth either directly or indirectly.…”

“…In contrast, indirect mechanisms relate to the properties of bacteria that inhibit the functioning of one or more plant pathogenic organisms. Indirect mechanisms include, e.g., the production of antibiotics (e.g., cyclic lipopeptides), enzymes that degrade the cell wall of fungi (including chitinases and β-1,3 glucanases), and production of hydrogen cyanide (HCN) inducing plant resistance (e.g., against fungal phytopathogens ;Joo et al, 2005;Cuong and Hoa, 2021;Lipková et al, 2021;Shahid et al, 2021;Bessai et al, 2022;Mirskaya et al, 2022) The mini-review aims to summarize the current state of knowledge on the Bacillus pumilus plant growth promotion properties and highlight the lack in the literature on this issue.…”
