Planomicrobium soli sp. nov., isolated from soil

Abstract: A Gram-staining-positive bacterium, designated strain XN13 T , was isolated from a soil sample collected from ALaShan National Geological Park in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China and subjected to a taxonomic study using a polyphasic approach. Strain XN13 T was found to have a range of chemical and morphological properties consistent with its classification in the genus Planomicrobium. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain XN13 T was related to members of the genus P… Show more

“…In the same study, members of the family Planococcaceae have been detected in high abundances in samples were Gillisia was also present. In general, Planococcaceae are found in a great variety of habitats ranging from soils (Luo et al, 2014) to Antarctic freshwater ponds (Reddy et al, 2002). While Planococcus has previously been found at a North Sea beach in England (Engelhardt et al, 2001), Planomicrobium was reported to be present in marine sediments in China (Dai et al, 2005).…”

“…The bacterial species belonging to genus Planobacterium have been identified from various habitats, including antarctic regions, fermented seafood, glacier/marine solar salterns, intertidal sediments and marine mud (Luo et al 2014). The first draft genome sequence of Planomicrobium has also recently been published by Salwan et al (2014).…”
