Plane stress problem of a piezothermoelastic plate

Abstract: Summary. The equations governing plane-stress behavior of a piezothermoelastic body, expressed in cylindrical coordinates, are presented. A solution technique based upon displacement and electric potential functions is developed, and application is made to the problem of a circular plate exposed to axisymmetric surface heating. Numerical results obtained for the elastic displacement and stresses, and the electric displacements and electric potential are shown to be in good agreement with those found using a pr… Show more

“…Using the modified Frobenius method, Dumir et al (1997) presented the 3D solutions of simply supported, angle-ply laminated cylindrical panels under cylindrical bending. Ashida and Tauchert (2000) presented a general plane-stress solution in cylindrical coordinates for a piezo-thermo-elastic plate. Kapuria et al (1997c) presented the 3D axisymmetric solutions for the homogeneous and multilayered hybrid piezoelectric cylinders using a power series expansion method, where the effects of the loading, radius-to-thickness ratio, span-to-radius ratio, and number of layers constituting the substrate on the response are investigated.…”
