Placozoan fiber cells: mediators of innate immunity and participants in wound healing

Abstract: Placozoa is a phylum of non-bilaterian marine animals. These small, flat organisms adhere to the substrate via their densely ciliated ventral epithelium, which mediates mucociliary locomotion and nutrient uptake.
