This article studies the development method of pc-LED, a phosphor-converted lighting emitting diode, with scattering enhancement particles (SEPs) at 7000 K correlated color temperature. The pc-LED is an advanced lighting solution that has been applied in many different categories; nonetheless, to keep up with the demands of modern lighting, the pc-LEDs need to enhance the color homogeneity and luminous flux. The detailed experiments on the two SEPs used in the articles are also presented. The experiments include combining each of these SEPs with a yellow phosphor Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ to test their properties and influences on the lighting of pc-LEDs. The scattering coefficients, the anisotropic scattering, the reduced scattering, and the scattering amplitudes at 450 nm and 550 nm are the subjects of SEPs study. The LightTools program is used to create the simulation of pc-LED, the results of the optical simulation will then be verified with the Mie-scattering theory. The findings of the research conclude that TiO2 particles are the best for the growth of color homogeneity while CaCO3 particles are effective in limiting the color deviation in correlated color temperature. Even though the SEPs benefit the lighting performance, their concentration must be managed to be under an acceptable amount to ensure desired results and avoid unwanted damages.This is an Open Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium provided the original work is properly cited.

In this paper, the experiments on phosphor-converted LEDs (pc-LEDs) with a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 8500K has been conducted with the scattering enhancement particles (SEPs) to achieve the higher color uniformity and emitted luminous flux of pc-LEDs. Moreover, this paper also introduced about choosing scattering enhancement particles (SEPs), including calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and titania (TiO2), and compared these particles' properties by adding them into the yellow Y3Al5O12:Ce 3+ phosphor compounding. Afterward, the LightTools program was applied to illustrate the optical simulation, and obtained results was analyzed and verified by applying the Mie-scattering theory. The scattering coefficients, the anisotropic scattering, the reduced scattering, and the scattering amplitudes at 455 nm and 595 nm are included in the scattering computation of SEPs. According to researched results, among the SEPs, TiO2 particles result in the highest value of color uniformity. However, a rise in their concentration is the cause of a sharp decline in luminous flux. Meanwhile, CaCO3 particles show the ability of reducing the deviated level in correlated color temperature by 620K if there is employed 30% of CaCO3 concentration. Hence, CaCO3 particles are the recommendation for achieving higher chromatic homogeneity and lumen output.

The angular color uniformity (ACU) with the ability to evaluate chromatic performance of WLED has become an important target to achieve in producing higher-quality WLEDs. This paper studies the ACU enhancing effects of novel triple-phosphor configuration in lighting devices with remote phosphor structure. Moreover, the optical influences of remote phosphor structure with three phosphor layers (TL) on WLEDs properties are calculated and compared to the dual-layer (DL) one for reference. The experiments are applied to devices at 5 distinct correlated color temperature ranging from 5600-8500 K. The results presented that DL structure attains better color rendering index (CRI) than the TL one. Meanwhile, in terms of color quality scales (CQS), TL model shows higher values at all ACCTs, compared to the DL. Moreover, the luminous flux of DL configuration is lower than that of TL structure. In addition, the diversion of color temperature depicts as D-CCT in TL structure is much better than the value in DL structure, especially at high ACCT as 8500 K, which means TL is good for chromatic uniformity of high ACCTs WLEDs. These results proved that the triple-layer structure is superior and more effective to apply for acquiring the enhancement of WLEDs package.
