Abstract:A new species of Pityphyllum from south-eastern Ecuador was found during an investigation of the orchids of the Cordillera del Cóndor. Pityphyllum mercedes-abarcae is described and illustrated. Information concerning its distribution, habitat, and phenology is provided.
