Pinus uncinata Ram.: dasometric characterization, site index curves and taper equation

Show more

“…All these components fully coincided with the factors other authors have defined as the main drivers of the stand structure in mountain pine-dominated forests (e.g. Gil-Pelegrin and Villar, 1988;Calama et al, 2004;González, 2008).…”

“…Other environmental factors may reflect long-term and large-scale effects of silviculture. The positive relationship between the vertical regularity and the concavity of the terrain can be explained by the greater productivity of these stands, which has promoted their management (Calama et al, 2004). In fact, in the second half of 20 th century, mountain pine forests in the Pyrenees continued to be managed as even-aged stands (Cano, 2003), and this may explain the observed higher regularity of the forests located in productive sites.…”

“…indicated for site classifi cation, but the polymorphic equation derived by the GADA approach from LundqvistKorf function (LG) resulted in a more adequate model for prediction of dominant height. Although advantages of dynamic site equations have been pointed out in several studies (AMARO et al, 1998;CALAMA et al, 2004;LOPEZ-SENESPLEDA et al, 2014) we decided to choose the more parsimonious model of Lundqvist-Korf using the guide curve method for site classifi cation. The site quality curves obtained in this study clearly show that Brazil is an excellent territory for African mahogany growth.…”
