“…Sub-G0/ G1 cells are the hallmark of apoptosis, and the flow cytometry results also confirmed the apoptosis inducing effect of HMF. Interestingly, HMF induced necrosis at relative higher concentration, which was consistent with the chemotherapeutic agent cisplatin that also stimulates necrosis in cancer cells [23]. It has been reported that inducing necrosis of tumor tissues could suppress tumor growth in mouse xenograft bladder cancer models [24], so we speculated necrosis induction of HMF might also be responsible for antiproliferative activity of HMF.…”

“…Pinocembrin (PCB; 5,7-dihydroxyflavanone) is a pharmacologically active ingredient of Pinus heartwood, Populus, Sparattosperma leucanthum, Eucalyptus, and Euphorbia with diverse pharmacological effects (6) that has been extensively applied for the treatment of microbial infection (7), inflammation (8), ischemia-reperfusion injury (9), and atherosclerosis (10). In addition, numerous recent studies have reported that PCB has anticancer activities by targeting the cell cycle, apoptosis, and the metastatic potential of various solid tumors (11)(12)(13)(14). However, the effect of PCB for the treatment of BC remains unclear.…”

“…Gao et al, investigate the effect of different concentrations of pinocembrin (100-200 µM) in vitro on SKOV3 human ovarian cancer cell lines using some consecrated assays (cell scratch assay, Annexin V-FITC/PI staining, Western blot and RT-PCR). Results revealed that this molecule inhibited the proliferation, migration and promoted apoptosis of the tested ovarian cancer cell line [78]. Kumar et al, have demonstrated that pinocembrin (50, 100 and 200 µM) induced apoptosis in HCT116 human colon cancer cell lines.…”
