“…ROS not only causes oxidative stress response, but also triggers an inflammatory cascade involved in the MAPK pathway that produces various pro-inflammatory cytokines. Wang et al have put forward that proinflammatory activity was correlated with the ROS-MAPK pathway and was involved in the NLRP3 inflammasome activation (Wang et al, 2019). In our experiment, AA increased the production of ROS dose-dependently compared with un-treated KCs.…”

“…However, in recent years, a large number of literatures have reported that ingredients of Chinese medicine can regulate the ASC of RAW264.7 cells and activate NLRP3 pathway. Pinellia pedatisecta lectin was reported to bind with NLRP3 through ASC following by caspase-1 in the inflammation of RAW264.7 cells (Wang et al, 2019 ). And luteolin was reported to decrease production of ROS and expression of NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, IL-18 and IL-1β proteins in RAW264.7 cells, which were incubated with LPS (Zhang et al, 2018 ).…”

“…Pinellia pedatisecta is a widely used herb in Chinese medicine. Its proinflammatory toxicity is related to Pinellia pedatisecta lectin (PPL), which activates the reactive oxygen species (ROS)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) pathway and NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome [42].The ingredients in the compounds also include benzodiazepines, which the main effects are sedation, hypnosis, and decreased anxiety [43].This is likely to be the mechanism by which HJZT promotes sleep in mice. The aforementioned Chinese medicine monomers may be the main medicinal components that are useful for the treatment of migraine, but further studies are needed to determine whether they are compatible with each other, whether new ingredients are produced, and the specific effects of the components on the clinical efficacy of the compound.…”
