Pilot Integrating Visual Platform in Online Courses

Abstract: Being able to share visual course assignments and provide and receive personal feedback is essential in most studio design courses of Delft University of Technology. With the rapid growth of online and blended education teachers are confronted with the challenge of maintaining the same quality for this aspect of their teaching as in traditional face-to-face design courses. Looking for interactive ways to train creative skills in their courses, teachers found that the available WEB 2.0 tools were unsatisfactory… Show more

“…In this scope, increasing applications have contributed to a better understanding the potentials and limitations of utilizing CI in design education: Sketchdrive used in a massive online studio at TU Delft Faculty of Architecture (Ouwerkerk, 2018); social-geographic web platform (GEO-VEM) used in the design studio at KU Leuven University (Pak & Verbeke, 2015); EquiCity, a generative and participatory design tool developed by Genesis Lab (Azadi &, Nourian 2021); Hybrid Ideation Space (HIS) used in partnership with Berkeley University Architecture and Montréal University Industrial Design (HIS) (Dorta et al, 2011); Architasker, a largescale crowdsourcing model used in Tel Aviv University (Dortheimer et al, 2020); CityWiki and Douyocity in University of Granada etc. Besides the experimental studies, there are also commercial crowdsourcing models like the Arcbazar competition platform for design projects.…”

“…Bu doğrultuda üretilen platformlar bütünsel ya da modüler biçimde tasarım stüdyolarına entegre edilmektedir. Delft Üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakültesi'nde kitlesel çevrimiçi stüdyo ortamında kullanılan Sketchdrive (Ouwerkerk, 2018), KU Leuven Üniversitesi'nde Design Studio 2.0 kapsamında geliştirilen Sosyal Coğrafi Web Platformu (GEO-VEM) (Pak & Verbeke, 2013); Genesis Lab tarafından üretken tasarım aracı EquiCity (Nourian & Azadi, 2021), Berkeley Üniversitesi Mimarlık ve Montréal Üniversitesi Endüstriyel Tasarım ortaklığında test edilen Hybrid Ideation Space (HIS) (Dorta vd., 2011) bunlardan birkaçıdır. Bu örneklerde üretilen strateji ve araçların stüdyo performansına etkileri belirli faktörler üzerinden ölçümlenmektedir.…”
