“…This clearly indicates that pig P02, horse Xk and dog Pa plasma proteins are the homologues of human plasma a l B in these species. These conclusions are collaborated by the following: (1) horse Xk, dog Pa and human a l B proteins cross-reacted with antiserum to pig PO2 (Stratil et al 1986; our unpublished results); and (2) the amino acid and carbohydrate compositions of human a l B (revised values given recently by Ishioka et al 1986) are very similar to those of pig PO2 (Stratil et al1987).…”

“…Recently, Lalley & McKusick (1985) suggested that homologous proteins and their loci should be assigned identical symbols in different species so as to facilitate comparative gene mapping. The protein symbol of human plasma alB-glycoprotein is alB (Ishioka et al 1986) and its locus symbol was designated A l B (Gahne et al 1987). We thus propose here that pig P02, horse Xk and dog Pa plasma proteins be redesignated alB-glycoprotein (alB) with locus symbol AI B.…”

“…However, our investigations indicate dominance and overdominance of marker‐heterozygotes always in unfavourable direction. A1BG belongs most likely to the immunoglobuline like supergene family (S tratil et al 1987) and hence it is not related with passage of creatine kinase from muscle cells into blood. PGD enzymes are usually present in physiological excess (H arris 1980).…”

“…The rabbit Prt protein of Juneja et al was identified to be homologous to human and pig serum cwlB glycoprotein (AlBG) (Stratil et al 1987). In view of the fact that in the pig the A l B G locus (previously P02) is closely linked to the PGD (6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase) locus (Juneja et al 1983;Gahne & Juneja 1985) we studied linkage relationship between the two homologous loci (i.e.…”
