Piezoresistivity of conducting polyaniline/BaTiO3composites

Abstract: Conducting polyaniline/barium titanate (PANI/BaTiO 3 ) composites exhibiting piezoresistivity properties have been synthesized by the in situ deposition technique by placing a fine grade powder of BaTiO 3 in the polymerization reaction mixture. The polyaniline was formed preferentially on the ceramic particles giving a much higher yield for PANI than in absence of the BaTiO 3 These composites exhibited piezoresistivity with the piezosensitivity being maximum at a certain composition. The current-voltage charac… Show more

“…The advantages of nanocrystalline materials are superior phase homogeneity, sinterability and microstructure leading to unique mechanical, electrical, dielectric, magnetic, optical and catalytic properties. The combustion synthesis is a processing technique currently being used as a route for the production of engineering ceramics and other advanced materials in their nano powder form and this process provides energy and cost saving advantages over the other processing routes (Saha and Pramanik 1997;Patil et al 2001;James et al 2004). In this paper, synthesis, characterization, sintering and dielectric properties of phase pure Ba 2 GdSbO 6 nanoparticles using a single step modified combustion process are reported for the first time.…”

“…Smaller grain size and larger amount of grain boundaries in nanostructured materials will improve mechanical, electrical, dielectric, magnetic, optical and catalytic properties [15]. The combustion synthesis is a processing technique currently being used as a route for the production of engineering ceramics and other advanced materials in their nanopowder form and this process provides energy and cost saving advantages over the other processing routes [16][17][18][19]. Various researchers have successfully synthesized ceramic compounds through combustion techniques, with different complexing agents, fuels, etc.…”

“…In the case of pelletised samples, particles are compressed together. Hence, the average interparticle distance is less [48] and allows easy propagation of thermal waves through the sample. Thereby, they yield relatively high TD values.…”
