Piezoelectric properties and temperature stability of Mn-doped Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)-PbZrO3-PbTiO3 textured ceramics

Abstract: In this letter, we report the electromechanical properties of textured 0.4Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–0.25PbZrO3–0.35PbTiO3 (PMN-PZT) composition which has relatively high rhombohedral to tetragonal (R-T) transition temperature (TR-T of 160 °C) and Curie temperature (TC of 234 °C) and explore the effect of Mn-doping on this composition. It was found that MnO2-doped textured PMN-PZT ceramics with 5 vol. % BaTiO3 template (T-5BT) exhibited inferior temperature stability. The coupling factor (k31) of T-5BT ceramic started t… Show more

“…Thus, in our study composition PMNZT4 was deemed to be the optimum composition, but still a detailed study and further improvements were required for actual application. This composition has also been examined by other researchers in the literature, both in single crystal and polycrystalline forms . The properties of polycrystalline PMNZT4 composition was found to be comparable with the literature, as given in Table .…”

“…This phenomenon is analogous to the high g 33 obtained in piezoelectric single crystal–polymer composite. Although <001> textured PMN-PT and textured PMN-PZT ceramics exhibit relatively large g 33 than that of their non-textured counterparts, the temperature range of application is limited by phase transition between rhombohedral and tetragonal phases ( T R-T )131415, as shown in Fig. 1b.…”

“…[4][5][6][7][8] Further, spatially controlled texture axis at micron scale can be easily achieved for devices with no-planar electrodes by changing the shape of green tape. 9 Poterala et al have reported a radially h001i C textured PMN-28PT ceramics via wrapping green ceramic tapes around a cylindrical mandrel and demonstrated $50% texture degree using 7 vol.…”
