“…All magnetic toys in the UK have a statutory requirement to be sold with a warning outlining the risks if swallowed or inhaled; however, this is often not disclosed at point of sale. In the USA, legislation regulating the sale of magnet products was passed in 2012, but this ruling was reversed in 2016 with an associated resurgence of magnet ingestion cases 14 . Action must be taken at a national and international level to regulate the sale of neodymium magnets, which have demonstrably caused significant harm to many children.…”
