ABSTRACT-Methods of nitrogen analysis were adopted in leaf tissues in the laboratory, nitrate content in the sap of petioles and chlorophyll relative index (CRI, in SPAD unit), as well as the evaluation of the buds fertility rates, production and qualitative aspects of cluster and berries of 'Thompson Seedless' vine, grafted on rootstocks 'Harmony', 'Jales' 'Paulsen 1103' and 'SO4'. The applied dose of N was 80 kg ha -1 , and the experiment was installed in the Submédio do Vale do São Francisco, Brazil. The experiment was performed in a randomized blocks design, with four treatments and five replicates, with the experimental plot represented by five plants. In addition to the analysis of N, cluster length and width (cm) and fresh mass (g), berries length, diameter (mm), volume (mL), mass of fresh matter of berries, soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA), SS/TA ratio, potential bud fertility (productive, vegetative, dead and dark buds in %) and real bud fertility (%). There were differences in nitrogen content in the leaves, nitrate in sap and CRI of 'Thompson Seedless' in relation to rootstocks. 'Thompson Seedless' expressed better potential for the development of clusters and berries when grafted on 'Harmony'. A dose de N aplicada foi de 80 kg ha -1 , e o experimento foi instalado no Submédio do Vale do São Francisco, Brasil. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi blocos ao acaso, com quatro tratamentos e cinco repetições, sendo que a parcela experimental foi constituída por cinco plantas. Além das análises de N pelos métodos citados, avaliaram-se comprimento e largura (cm) e massa fresca de cacho (g), comprimento, diâmetro (mm), volume (mL), massa da matéria fresca de bagas (g), teor de sólidos solúveis (SS), acidez titulável (AT), relação SS/AT, fertilidade de gemas potencial (gemas frutíferas, vegetativas, mortas e escuras, em %) e fertilidade de gemas real (%). Verificaram-se diferenças entre teores de nitrogênio na folha, nitrato na seiva e IRC da 'Thompson Seedless' em relação aos porta-enxertos, e quando enxertada sobre o 'Harmony', a 'Thompson Seedless' expressou melhor potencial para o desenvolvimento de cachos e bagas. Buscando compreender os efeitos do aumento da carga de gemas planta-1 na interceptação da radiação solar e seu efeito na fertilidade de gemas, tem-se como objetivo desse trabalho avaliar o efeito do aumento da carga de gemas da videira ‘Sauvignon em relação a interceptação da redação fotossinteticamente ativa e o seu efeito na fertilidade de gemas em região de elevada altitude de Santa Catarina. O presente trabalho foi realizado durante a safra 2016/2017, em um vinhedo comercial, localizado no munícipio de São Joaquim. Os tratamentos consistiram em quatro diferentes níveis de cargas de gemas: 15, 30, 50 e 75 gemas planta-1. As gemas foram classificadas em férteis ou não férteis de acordo com a presença ou ausência da inflorescência. Para avaliação da interceptação da radiação fotossinteticamente ativa, utilizou-se um ceptômetro, e as medidas foram realizadas ao meio-dia durante os estádios fenológicos de plena florada, mudança de cor das bagas e maturidade. O aumento da carga gemas planta-1 reduz a fertilidade de gemas basais, não influenciando a fertilidade de gemas medianas e apicais da videira Sauvignon Blanc. Há uma redução da radiação fotossinteticamente ativa da videira Sauvignon Blanc em função do aumento da carga gemas planta-1, nos estádios fenológicos florada, veráison e colheita.

Failure in irrigation management of grapevines grown in the Brazilian semiarid region can affect bud fertility. Adequate irrigation, considering both the development of bunches in the current cycle and the formation of fertile buds for subsequent cycles, can bring significant advances to viticulture. Therefore, the objective of this research was to investigate the effect of different irrigation levels during flowering on the formation of buds and potential bunches of 'Arra 15' grapevine and its relationship with metabolic processes. A field experiment was carried out in a commercial vineyard in Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brazil, during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The experiment was designed in randomized blocks with four replications and five irrigation levels (70; 85; 100; 115 and 130% of crop evapotranspiration – ETc) during three production cycles. The variables fertile bud, vegetative bud, dead bud, potential fertility of the basal, median, and apical regions of the branches, number of potential bunches, reducing sugar, total soluble sugar, net photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, and relative chlorophyll index were evaluated. The 115% ETc irrigation level improved the number of fertile buds and number of potential bunches. Irrigation level above 115% ETc increased gas exchange and relative chlorophyll index, while 70% ETc increased leaf sugar content. The most appropriate irrigation strategy is the application of 115% ETc during the flowering stage, for the increase of fertile buds and potential bunches of the next cycle, without influencing the vine metabolism. Total soluble sugars are a promising indicator of water deficit during flowering and as an indicator of vegetative bud formation for the next cycle.
