Phytoplankton photosynthetic rate measurement using tunable pulsed light induced fluorescence kinetics

Abstract: The photosynthetic process of phytoplankton is the basis of the material circulation and energy flow of the ecosystem. The rapid and accurate measurement of phytoplankton photosynthesis rate is of great significance to water ecological environment monitoring, marine resource assessment and global climate change prediction. On the basis of "Bio-Optical" model, a photosynthetic rate measurement method based on tunable pulsed light induced fluorescence kinetics was put forward in this paper. The chlorophyll fluor… Show more

“…The photosynthesis rate of the Arabidopsis plants of different lines after drought treatment was analyzed using the Portable Photosynthesis Rate Detector AGHJ-PPF (Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) after a 30 min dark adaptation, as previously described [66]. Parameters including the maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm), minimal fluorescence (F0), maximal fluorescence (Fm), and PSII (as shown in Figure S1) were calculated according to a previous method [66].…”

“…The MDA, hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), SOD, peroxidase (POD), CAT, and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) contents were determined by using an MDA assay kit, a plant soluble sugar content test kit, an H 2 O 2 assay kit, an SOD assay kit, a POD assay kit, a CAT assay kit, and an APX assay kit (Nanjing Jiancheng Bioengineering Institute, Nanjing, China), following a protocol provided with a specific kit, as previously described by Ni et al (2018b). The maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm) was calculated according to a previous method (Yin et al, 2018).…”

“…Yin et al [12] put forward a photosynthetic rate measurement method based on tunable pulsed light induced fluorescence kinetics on the basis of 'Bio-Optical' model. They used the chlorophyll fluorescence as the probe of photosynthesis process and evaluated the phytoplankton photosynthetic rate by the photosynthetic electron transport rate.…”
