Abstract: The protozoan Toxoplasma (T.) gondii is a zoonotic disease agent causing systemic infection in warm-blooded intermediate hosts, including humans. During acute infections, the parasite infects host cells and multiplies intracellularly in the asexual tachyzoite stage.
