Phytochemistry, Antimicrobial, Antigiardial and Antiamoebic Activities of Selected Plants from Albaha Area, Saudi Arabia

Abstract: This work was carried out in collaboration between all authors. Author AAA suggested the problem, proposed the outlines of the study and wrote the first draft of the manuscript. Author SMH did the phytochemical tests and performed the analysis on all samples. Author HAAGM identified and authenticated the plant species and helped in sample preparation. Author SAAR assisted in collection and identification of plant species and participated in technical editing of the manuscript. All authors reviewed the study pr… Show more

“…The behavior improved dramatically as compound 2a was converted into its thiosemicarbazone derivatives 3aee, with IC50 levels ranging from 1.06 to 4.46 mM/ml. 27 Compounds 3b,c, and e, with IC50 values of 1.49, 1.56, and 1.06 mM/ml, respectively, had greater antiamoebic efficacy than metronidazole (IC501 42.62 mg/ml). 7methoxycoumarin had lower activity than umbelliferone (IC501 48.92 mM/ml).…”

“…Srividya et al found out alkaloid in C. zedoaria planted in India (Srividya, Dhanabal, Ajit Kumar, Sathish Kumar, & Vishnuvarthan, 2012). Moreover, Abdelazim Ali Ahmed et al not only found out alkaloid in Achyranthes aspera in Albaha area (Saudi Arabia) (Ahmed, Howladar, Mohamed, & Al-Robai, 2016), but also specified that the alkaloid content with very high level, about 9.2mg/g. Note: GAE: gallic acid equivelent Figure 3.…”
