Phytochemical Profiles, Antioxidant and Antimicrobial with Antibiofilm Activities of Wild Growing Potentilla visianii Extracts

Abstract: We investigated the phytochemical profiles, antioxidant and antimicrobial with antibiofilm activities of methanol and ethyl acetate extracts from the whole plant of Potentilla visianii (Vis. et Panč.) Panč. The major compounds were: epicatechin and quercetin in both extracts. Total phenolic content was determined using spectrophotometric method with Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, the concentration of flavonoids with aluminum chloride and amount of tannins with butanol-HCl reagent. The methanol extract has a signific… Show more

“…Potentilla palustris itself is not monographed in the Ph.Eur., but has a similar spectrum of components [ 13 ]. For another close relative, Potentilla visianii , biofilm-inhibiting activity was reported [ 14 ], thus implicating a high potential for further investigations for P. palustris . Epilobium angustifolium is a very common plant in Central Europe which can be found near ruderal posts and embankments.…”
