Abstract:Astavarga is nature's most extravagant group of flowering plants found in Himalayan region. As the name Astavarga indicates, it contains eight medicinal plants belonging to Zingiberaceae, Orchidaceae and Liliaceae family viz, Kakoli, Kshirakakoli, Meda, Mahameda, Jeevak, Risbhaka, Riddhi and Vridddhi.
