Phytochemical and antioxidant studies of Cleome heratensis (Capparaceae) plant extracts

Abstract: Background: In this research, different active phytochemical constituents present in Cleome heratensis (C. heratensis) from Capparaceae family were investigated. Moreover, the fatty acids present in the seed and aerial parts of the plant were identified by gas chromatography (GC) after esterification of the oil. Antioxidant activity of the aerial parts and seed of C. heratensis methanolic extract over 2,2′-diphenylpicryl-1-hydrazyl (DPPH) was investigated using ultravioletvisible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer. Me… Show more

“…It was proved that both substrate and reductant could be adsorbed on Ag NPs to electron transfer take place [1,59]. Thus, with progress of the reaction, the absorbance of 4-nitrophenol (λ max ~ 410 nm) is reduced and at the same Figure 6a showing the catalytic activity of the bio-synthesized Ag NPs towards 4-nirophenol reduction.…”

“…The results of the antioxidant activity of the extract was reported based on IC 50 in mg/ml of the extract. IC 50 is said to be a concentration in a extract, that could be quenched 50% of the free radicals in a reaction medium [46,47].…”
