IntroductionBituminaria bituminosa is a medicinal plant recognized for its phytochemicals, such as furanocoumarins, pterocarpans, and flavonoids. Since the secondary metabolism is influenced by the plant-endophyte interactions, the endophytic bacterial community of B. bituminosa was explored and the possible interactions with the plant were described.Materials and methodsDifferent bacterial strains were isolated from different organs of in vitro plants as shoots, roots, and seeds. The bacterial strains were identified and phenotypically characterized for different traits; strains were also exposed to different concentrations of B. bituminosa plant extract showing different susceptibility, probably determined by different secondary metabolites produced by the plant in the different organs (i.e. aerial parts and roots).Results and discussionBacterial strains showed different phenotypic characteristics; the 6 detected haplotypes were dominated by a single species related to Stenotrophomonas rhizophila. Endophytes isolated from the aerial parts produced a higher indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) amount than those of the roots, while all strains were unable to produce biosurfactants and antagonistic activity toward the other strains. The research opens new perspectives for future analysis addressed to test the susceptibility of the endophytic bacterial community of B. bituminosa toward the pure compounds extracted from the plants, and to investigate the role of these compounds on the distribution of endophytes within the different plant tissues.

Corylifolinin, also known as isobavachalcone, is a flavonoid compound isolated from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia L. With a rich array of biological activities, corylifolinin has emerged as a versatile therapeutic agent. It has demonstrated notable antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, anti‐tumor, anti‐bacterial, and anti‐viral properties. Moreover, corylifolinin holds promise in enhancing liver function, cardiovascular health, and providing neuroprotection. Its applications span a range of medical conditions, including hepatitis, cardiovascular disease, tumors, and inflammation. Herein, this comprehensive review delves into various aspects of corylifolinin, encompassing its sources, biosynthetic pathways, biotransformation, physicochemical properties, absorption, assimilation, metabolism, and excretion. It explores the molecular mechanisms underlying its diverse bioactivities in cellular and animal models. Furthermore, we present insights into clinical trials, human studies, toxicological profiles, safety considerations, marketed products, and patents related to corylifolinin. This compilation aims to serve as a valuable reference for both the development and clinical application of corylifolinin‐based therapies.

Medicinal plants are used with several therapeutic applications, with hair disorders. Among the symptoms caused by these diseases, it is pertinent to emphasize the psychic damages such as loss of self-esteem and physical symptoms such as itching and burning. The present study aims to highlight the beneficial effect of medicinal plants against the symptoms caused by hair disorders. This is an integrative literature review using the Pubmed, Science direct and Google Scholar platforms and as descriptors “phytochemical”, “animal”, “seborrheic dermatitis”, “plant”, “anti-inflammatory extracts”, “antifungal” in English, crossed using the Boolean operators “AND” or “OR”. The selection of works took place after reading the title and abstract, with publication date between the years 2012-2022, excluding review studies, duplicate articles and thematic leakage. After extracting the data, 23 studies were selected that proved the effectiveness of plants on hair disorders, performing antifungal action (especially on fungi of the Malassezia spp. and Trichophyton spp.) and antioxidant due to the presence of phytochemical components such as flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, terpenoids, among others. It is noteworthy that most of these plants are processed using the maceration technique to obtain their extracts. Therefore, the bioactive compounds of these plants can be used for the development of pharmaceutical products with the purpose of expanding the therapeutic options on the market and optimizing the quality of life of patients, making it essential to encourage scientific research that discusses safety, efficacy and toxicity from the use of these metabolites.
