“…Considering that the swimming velocity of fish can be influenced by neurotransmission processes, including alterations of ChE activity (Scott and Sloman 2004), this result suggests the involvement of AChE inhibition in the reduction of the swimming velocity of fish exposed to fenitrothion. These results are in good agreement with similar relationship previously found for other fish species exposed to other organophosphate or carbamate pesticides, for example: in the rainbow trout (Oncorhyncus mykiss) exposed to diazinon and malathion (Beauvais et al 2000;Brewer et al 2001); in the coho salmon (Oncorhyncus kisutch) exposed to chlorpyrifos (Sandahl et al 2005); and in the fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas) exposed to carbofuran (Heath et al 1997).…”

“…However, it is highly toxic to common carp (LC " 0.21 mg/L), particularly when compared to the less sensitive stripped bass (LC "12.10 mg/L) (Finlayson and Faggella, 1986). It has been demonstrated to produce ChE inhibition in larve of stripped bass an fathead minnow (Heath et al, 1993(Heath et al, , 1997. However, there is a lack of knowledge of some important aspects related to ChE analysis in molinate exposure.…”

“…Carbofuran-induced AChE inhibition has been found by several investigators in mammals (Gupta and Kadel, 1989;Trotter et al, 1991;Gupta, 1994). In "sh, previous studies on carbofuran have focused on the e!ects of high concentrations on inhibition of AChE activity (Jash and Bhattacharya, 1983;Trotter et al, 1991;Heath et al, 1997).…”
