Physiological response and earliness of soybean genotypes to soil base saturation conditions

Abstract: Low base saturation (V) is one of the major abiotic stresses in the Brazilian Cerrado. Given this scenario, it is important to evaluate different physiological responses of genotypes in environments with and without liming aiming at select both liming responsive and low‐saturation tolerant genotypes. The hypothesis of this study is that contrasting V conditions provide changes in physiological performance of soybean genotypes. Thus, our objective was to select soybean genotypes in environments with recommended… Show more

“…Selection approaches in METs are always interest to barley breeders, but it affected mainly by the strong GE interaction that leads to the reduce yield potential of genotypes across environments (Zuffo et al 2021). Nowadays, the agricultural systems have encounter to demands for more feed and food due to high climate changes.…”

“…This model combining the features of AMMI and BLUP models in a unique index. Recently, Zuffo et al (2021) and Ahakpaz et al (2021) used the proposed statistic in selection of soya bean and barley genotypes, respectively, and accentuated the usefulness of this parameter in choosing high yielding and stable genotypes.…”

“…Liming is the most common and effective strategy to ameliorate acid soils (Fageria & Baligar, 2008; Goulding, 2016) and is an important practical approach for crop production in acid soils (Alves de Andrade et al., 2020). Surface soil acidity can be managed by the top dressing of lime (Belkacem & Nys, 1995).…”

“…The performance of soya bean plants under abiotic stress caused by low base saturation was studied by Andrade et al. (2021), who reported significant differences in the physiological performance of soya bean populations at different base saturation levels.…”
