Unter dlen physikdisch-chemischen Definitionen erscheint die der Loslichkeit als eine der einfachsten und auch ihre Feststellung gilt im allgemeinen als eine einfache Prozedur, wenn man namlich daran festhalt, dass unter Loslichkeit die Konzentration verstanden wird, bis zu welcher ein Korper in Losung geht bei Beruhrung mit dem festen Bodenkorperl). So einfach die Verhaltnisse hiernach erscheinen, so schwierig gestalten sie sich bei solchen Korpern, die leicht ubersattigte Losungen bilden und bei denen der ubergang zur echten Losung, der noch durch eine kolloide Zwischenstufe verzogert wird, auch dann nur langsam erfolgt, wenn genugend krystallinischer Bodenkorper vorhanden ist.Wir haben darum die in der ersten Mitteilung2) mgegebenen Versuche uber den Einfluss von Puff erlosungen mit bestimmter Wasserstoffionenkonzentration noch erweitert durch Verwendung weiterer Pufferlosungen und von Natriumurat als Bodenkorper.Als Pufferlosungen fanden Verwendung (wir werden weiterhin nur noch die eingeklammerten Abkurzungen verwenden) : Die Pufferlosungen wurden mehrfach elektrometrisch nachgepriift, warend wir fur die zahlreichen Kontrollen die Indikatorenmethoden,

To test the usefulness of conductivity measurements in the study of ion interaction with proteins, the binding of Na, K, Ca, and Mg by human serum albumin was investigated.The measurements were carried out with albumin solutions which were defined ,by a constant negative net charge of 36 units per albumin molecule, corresponding to a mean p H value of 7.5.N o or little binding of N a and K by this protein was found. Ca and Mg were bound to a maximum of about 8 ions per albumin molecule. This maximum corresponds to only a fraction of the net initial charge. T h e results are in agreement with those of other workers.T h e method proved to be of value for simple, well-defined systems and has the advantage that all the difficulties encountered in the use of membranes and potential measurements are avoided. Moreover, it may be used when only small amounts of protein are available.
